On May 30, 2024, the East African Confucius Institutes Alliance was officially established during the 2024 Joint Conference of Confucius Institutes in Africa. The alliance was jointly initiated by 17 Confucius Institutes and Confucius Classrooms from 10 countries in the East African region. By pooling regional resources and strengths, it aims to enhance the quality and effectiveness of Chinese language education while better serving the social development and cultural exchanges of East Africa and the African continent as a whole.
The alliance will carry out more exchange activities, organize teaching seminars, promote cultural initiatives, and conduct teacher training programs. It seeks to facilitate information exchange and resource sharing among member institutions, strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between Chinese and African people, and contribute to the diversification and inclusiveness of global education and culture.
